On Saturday night, the ever-theatrical Kanye West hit SNL and delivered two big performances of his latest singles, “Power” and “Runaway”. It’s rare for anyone to get this dramaturgic on the Saturday Night Live stage, but if anyone (other than Lady Gaga, of course) were to do it, it would be Kanye. Speaking of Gaga, it’s still quite depressing that their co-headlining tour fell through; I would have loved to see them try to outdo each other. But back to SNL — watch Kanye West and Clipse’s Pusha T make their way through a myriad of classical dancers, below:

It’s so unusual to ever describe an SNL musical performance as “beautiful,” “ethereal,” “thought-provoking,” or “mind-blowing,” but all of those words authentically reflect Kanye’s set on Saturday night. It was more visually interesting than any TV performance I’ve seen in a long, long time. I personally like the “Runaway” performance more, but I felt like both were jaw-dropping. Leave it to Kanye to take a TV promo gig and turn it into a work of art. I never thought I’d see Kanye on SNL again after that original verse, but I’m so glad it happened.
any one have any idea where i can buy the instrument kanye plays in runaway online?
