This is probably the closest to my list as it gets. Nice selections. I really appreciate this site. I probably would have missed out on Freelance Whales, Chiddy Bang (party music of this past semester for me) and the Antlers had I not frequented the site so thanks for that. Never really got into jj but never really gave it a chance either.

Great list – your comments on Merriweather Post Pavilion and Hospice in particular really make me want to give them both another spin. This really was a great year for music. Loved the artwork for this list too.

My favorite album of the year was Neko Case’s Middle Cyclone.

Nice list! I thought it was great that Florence + The Machine and jj were included – two very good albums. I probably would have ranked the “Dark Was The Night” compilation a bit higher because it really featured some of the best songs of 2009 and just had serious chemistry. I totally agree with the top 4 on this list – Animal Collective really kicked ass.

On the whole an excellent and well thought out list, only bone of contention for me is The Big Pink’s placement, nice album but number 6, would not rate quite so highly in my opinion but hey here’s to diversity.

Fave album for me has got to be MPP. It is by far the deepest record I have ever heard. There’s just no end to it. I’ll be listening to that masterpiece for the rest of my life. Close second is Bitte Orca, third Veckatimest; all three are albums I’d never play when non-musical friends are over, but nevertheless great.

Never quite got the love for Hospice–maybe just too dry for my taste. Weathervanes has lost some of its appeal after a few listens, as has Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.

I really enjoyed the year end list. A couple of things that I wanted to see were some more rap including Raekwon and the Freddie Gibb mixtapes which were very good. I would have liked Mew to be higher as well. Job well done, really looking forward to a lot of great releases next year!

Excellent list – it falls in line with many of my own picks. For me, Merriweather Post Pavilion easily tops this year’s list. I’m still trying to catch up on a few albums that fell beneath my radar this year, but don’t see anything touching MPP. It will be in my regular rotation for a long time.

Great list. Almost every Animal Collective album has had some song that was unlistenable. MPP does not have a single weak track on it. One of the best of the decade. Either I missed it, or Embryonic didn’t place here.
