I could honestly care less about Harry Patch, the last living UK World War 1 Veteran (damn, man), but now that Radiohead made a song in his honor, I feel like I love the guy. Making it even more special, “Harry Patch (In Memory Of)” holds the first beautiful minutes of recorded post-In Rainbows material for Radiohead. It’s string-laden and slow. I could only hope someone records something like this when I die.
Listen to it here, and buy it at Waste. It’s for a worthy cause, not one I particularly care about, but I’m sure its worthy in some way.

“I could honestly care less about Harry Patch”…
…”not one I particularly care about, but I’m sure its worthy in some way”
Good God. Ignorance is no excuse for a showing a basic lack of human care and respect towards elderly servicemen and women, and those who care for them. Shame on you.
Wow, you are trying SO hard to cover up the fact that this mp3 is late as hell that you have to make fun of someone who was in WWI? That’s pathetic.
lol, its ok Luis… I dont care about Harry Patch either. I’m sure no really knew who he was before this song.
The song isn’t that great anyway.
i’m SO not payin almost $2 for this track.. (i only paid ~$5 for In Rainbows, haha). I hope their next album sounds nothing like this.
Shaun, your comment is so dramatic. Not everyone, especially an American, has to care deeply about the British Legion. At least he’s not giving the charity track away like other blogs.
lol… i thought this post was very funny. you guys need to relax.. take a joke.
follow him on twitter, he’s always joking around about stuff like this.
@Alexx Boy: Next album? Dude, read the news…

“I could honestly care less about Harry Patch, the last living UK World War 1 Veteran ”
…wow…
What have you done in your life Luis?
he even said it was a joke on twitter… haha.
oh and Keso, thanks for that link.. so depressing that Radiohead won’t make any more albums.
i don’t really like this song, maybe if i were in the right mood for it.
They actually wrote it and recorded it before he died. And all the lyrics are Harry Patch’s words. Research, my friend.
there are words to this? its not just thom having a sissy orgasm?
I hear they want to do a whole EP of songs just like this.
aside from whether or not we should care about the back story, it’s kind of beautiful
listen to this song backwards, seriously, you’ll know it when you hear it
There are some subjects which should be safe from joke and parody.
Charities focusing on raising awareness of those who fought in a war which caused the death of almost 22 million people (including almost quarter of a million Americans) is such a subject.
The life of a man who fought in one World War and lived through a second before using his experience and voice to ask for an end to war is another such subject.
There’s plenty of scope for humour and jocularity in the music industry and beyond without feeling the need to ridicule the recently deceased or charities doing good work for those willing to defend us.
just so you know when you say that you could care less about something it means that you actually care to a certain degree. What you mean to say is that you couldn’t care less, meaning that you care so little it is impossible to care any less. This is a common misuse of this term and it is embarrassing.
Boom, learn every day
