I have an uncharacteristically complicated relationship with the wonderful . I absolutely throw it down when one of her tracks comes on. She is everything I look for in a female vocalist with an electronic twang. However, I have never really cared of any of her releases or bothered to go out and purchase any of her albums until I find them in some clearance bin.

I’ve had a tumultuous few weeks with Roisin’s debut album, Ruby Blue. I have been going back and forth, sometimes enjoying it thoroughly and other times pushing it aside, annoyed. Nonetheless, the album’s titular track was included in the latest pmaCAST episode, and now I’m going back to another favorite, “Ramalama.” I was listening to it earlier today… and one thing led to another… and now I have this little mix on my hands.

Roisin Murphy – Ramalama (Bang Bang)
from Ruby Blue (2005)
I Can’t Wait
from Hercules and Love Affair: Sidetracked (2009)
Time to Let Go
from Disco Romance (2007)
Just Gazing
from Wronger Than Everyone Else (2007)
Far Away
from In Ghost Colours (2008)
Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody (Schizofonics Remix)
from The Blogosphere (2009)
Manner To Act (RAC Remix)
from Stereogum Presents… Vol. 1 (2008)

Oh and if you were wondering, the sudden resurgence of Roisin love around here is credited entirely to the Wade Robson and his impressive numbers here and here.

If her music wasn’t enough of a reason to love her, this cemented it for me:

“I met her about a year ago before she got really big and I had no clue that this was all going to happen. She wasn’t wearing shoulder pads at the time, and I was. Lady Gaga is just a poor imitation of me.” – Róisín Murphy
