Active Child’s remix of Lana Del Rey’s tender and heartbreaking new single “Ride” is structurally gorgeous, but we have to mention the subtle mindfucking that’s going on here.

Pat Grossi, under his Active Child moniker has proven time and time again that he’s a master of the structuring and forming beautiful sounds. While most of his rework of “Ride” makes us want to make a pillow out of a pile of fresh fall foliage and curl up under a black tupelo, Grossi throws us off by tossing in some unnerving arpeggios and sometimes manipulates Lizzy’s voice to achieve a creepy effect. It’s an appropriately dreamy remix of a dreamy song, yet somehow Active Child has found a way to keep us on our toes in our reverie.
