Star Slinger has become something of a remix deity, reworking the likes of Morning Benders, Gold Panda, Deerhunter, Broken Social Scene, the list goes on and on. Most recently, the U.K. beatsmith has interpreted his own version of Donald Glover’s alter ego Childish Gambino, and his biggest tune on the web right now, “Freaks and Geeks.”
The writer/actor turned rapper (or is it the other way around?) has been the talk of the town since his debut EP dropped, and now he even has an unofficial mixtape out called I Do Not Talk.
The remix of “Freaks and Geeks” brings forth all things Star Slinger: heavy sampling, glitchy electronica compulsions, added bass and plenty more beats, even on a hip hop song. His rendition is a bit more light hearted than the original, keeping all of Glover’s lyrics intact unlike his usual vocal tampering. Check it out below:
