TV On the Radio’s Dave Sitek has been busy in 2011 – dropping a (very dope) record with his own band, producing material for countless bands, and churning out remixes left and right – and he’s rounding the year out in style, with a really fantastic remix of Florence + the Machine’s Ceremonials highlight “No Light, No Light.”
Sitek’s take on the track is massive – he (rightfully!) lets Florence’s monumental vocal talent take the reigns, but amps up the backbeat with plenty of skittering, house-inspired percussion and space-y synth drones, pretty effortlessly distilling a clubby banger out of a chamber pop anthem. With such driving instrumentation backing her up, Florence’s voice and lyrics seem even more desperate and compelling. We almost like this better than the original. Check it out.
