I’m pretty sure 2013’s going to be the year of the Rhye remix – everything about the group’s minimalistic, slow-burning bedroom-eyed vibe is conducive to being chopped, screwed, and layered over a throbbing, house-y beat. Case in point – check out the Berlin-based veteran producer Jeff Samuel’s “faded mix” of “Open,” which is still our jam on its own. Samuel takes Mike Milosh’s vocal line from the song’s chorus – “oh, I know you’re faded” – and loops it for eight solid minutes through skittering beats, other samples, and a strobelit, clubby energy. Check it out.
