Roisin Murphy – Orally Fixated

Is it just me or is Roisin taking cues from Shakira? Maybe just a little? Song title and single cover aside, “Orally Fixated” sounds like typical nosh – gritty, nostalgic, and sometimes underwhelming. I’m sure “Orally Fixated” will please her fans and pump them up for an upcoming record.

Pitchfork reports that in the UK, “Orally Fixated” will drop November 16 via AWAL. In the States, the single should be available on iTunes. And apparently The Guardian will offer a free download for 48 hours. You can listen to the new single below:

Nice observation about Shaki.

I don't find the track underwhelming though. Loving the guitar solo.

The song has a souped up, remixed Moloko vibe – I like it. And let's not forget that Roisin was doing electro, avant garde stuff waaaay before Shakira.

haha, the Shakira thing only refered to the title of the song “Orally Fixated” vs Shakira's Oral Fixations Vols 1 & 2. And the cover is reminiscent of She Wolf.

Wow, I'm sort of embarrassed to have caught that even though Luis didn't get into it at all..

I agree. This could have been better. Still good though.

Inst she supposed to be 9 months pregnant? I wonder when the pictures for the single were taken.

This reminds me of that Prince song in the old Batman movie.

I like the return to the quirkier Moloko-like music.

Not underwhelming at all.
