“Ready To Start” is at their The Smiths-iest, while still religiously reading from the book of “Keep The Car Running”. This new song is already the fourth song we’ve heard from ’s forthcoming album The Suburbs and while being a fine, fine song, I’m starting to worry about the album’s big anthem status. Maybe it’s overtly eager fanboyism, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the band was saving the big anthems for later, but I have to ask– where are the Wake Up’s and the Intervention’s of The Suburbs? I wait with bated breath.

“Ready To Start” will appear on Arcade Fire’s forthcoming LP The Suburbs, out August 3rd. Pre-order it now. Listen to the track here:

Totally agree about the lack of “epic” songs…hopefully they are saving them up. “We Used To Wait” builds pretty well though, and “The Suburbs” and everything else is still really good…I guess we’ll see.

Maybe you had your speakers turned down or something because “We Used To Wait” feels pretty damn epic to me. If they are saving the real anthems then we’re all in for a treat. Either way, this album will be solid.
