Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard has been releasing music for seemingly forever but he’s yet to put out a solo album – that’s about to change October 26, when he drops Former Lives. “Bigger Than Love,” which features Aimee Mann (you might know her only for her excellent stint on Portlandia, but ask your parents – she’s a renowned singer-songwriter). Don’t press play expecting anything soulful and folky – Gibbard and Mann act out the parts of an estranged couple arguing over their history and possessions over a driving, muscular pulse, and the end product is a truly excellent duet that perfectly showcases two incredible talents.
