Jay-Z did “Justify My Thug.” Lady Gaga cites her as a reference for pretty much everything. And now, Beth Ditto of The Gossip fame has devoted the video for “I Wrote The Book,” from her self-titled EP produced by Simian Mobile Disco, as a homage to Madonna’s iconic, steamy, sexually seductive “Justify My Love.”
She maintains the same theme intact: shot in black and white, located in a hotel room with a few macho guys gyrating around her – dancing in a very nineties appropriate style – Ditto staring at herself in the mirror, dressed more or less in the same attire. The bath scene is new though… Watch:
