On August 21st, British rockers Bloc Party will be releasing their new album, Four via Frenchkiss Records. You can rummage through a pile of YouTube videos and find more than half of the album spread across a handful of live performances, but the audio for the official first single, “Octopus” has finally arrived. The single sees the band returning to an indie rock foundation, leaving behind the brash electronics of their last studio outing Intimacy.
Full of distant vocals and left hook guitar flourishes, “Octopus” has more pop appeal than it initially lets on. The beguilingly simple call-and-respond melody will get stuck in your head with repeat listens.
