On January 23rd in the Uk and March 6th in the US, Bon Iver sill release their third single from their thinkpiece-inspiring, year-end-list-topping, Grammy-nominated self-titled 2011 record, and he’s chosen “Towers,” that electric slice of rock Americana, to follow up “Calgary” and “Holocene.”
It’s a good choice – that burst of emotive strings and powerful drums toward the song’s second half is one of our favorite moments on the whole record. “Towers” won’t be lonely on 12” vinyl – its b-side is a cover of John Prine’s “Bruised Orange (Chain of Sorrow)” which Vernon first unveiled in Summer 2010 on a tribute record for the Illinois folk-country pioneer.
