We heard a live rendition of Charli XCX’s new single “You’re the One” in one of MTV Hive’s SXSW videos, but now you can soak up the recorded version – it’s her new single, dropping on an EP next week.
We liked the simplicity of the acoustic version we heard before, but this one has a dark, sexy industrial beat that we just can’t get enough of. Charli’s voice is staccato, like she’s summoning demons, here, and soaring like an R&B diva there; toward the end she actually delivers a passable rap. All in all, it’s another piece of solid gold from a girl who seems inacapable of doing any wrong. The You’re the One EP will be out in the US on June 12.
