Fallulah is one of the most popular artists that you’ve never heard of, so long as you accept “popularity” as a relative term. The Danish pop singer, born Maria Apetri, is a certified platinum recording artist, but only in her home country as of yet. One listen to “Out Of It” and you’ll start to understand what all the Danish fuss is about. Her voice has the crystal-clear strength of a Florence Welch or a Marina and The Diamonds, and the song is irresistibly catchy and intelligent. Check it out below.
Her 2010 album, Black Cat Neighborhood, is the platinum one, but she’s also just released sophomoric effort. Escapism came out earlier in February on Sony/RCA Denmark. We’re excited, and hope to see more of her music on this side of the Atlantic soon.
