Icebird is the collaborative project of prolific electro musician and producer rjd2 and a fellow Philadelphia native, singer Aaron Livingston. The fruits of their labors will drop soon on their debut album, The Abandoned Lullaby, but you can have an early taste with “Charmed Life.”
Livingston has a voice as smooth and effortless as Cee-Lo’s, and rjd2’s complex beat seamlessly melds soulful piano that sounds like something out of the album’s title with clubby electronics and toe-tapping big drums. And that fleeting, momentary key change toward the end is something else. Check it out.
