Post-Lana Del Rey indie pop group from Los Angeles, The Neighbourhood are on the precipice of becoming the next Foster The People, making their deliriously catchy “Sweater Weather” this year’s “Pumped Up Kicks.” It’s an oddly titled, but undeniable big-by-summer jam.

“Female Robbery,” an older single, will instantly remind you of Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games” for about a second or two, but The Neighbourhood eventually takes grip of your attention with a slithering sing-along chorus and a menacing bass line.

Couple strong indie pop chops with Hipstamatic filters and Hitchcockian imagery and you’ve the videos for “Sweather Weather” and “Female Robbery.” Watch them below:

Good stuff. We’ll anticipate this young group’s future work.

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
