All of the large-scale collaborations between Consequence and label boss Kanye West have been fruitful thus far–College Dropout‘s “Spaceship”, G.O.O.D. Fridays‘ “Chain Heavy”, and Late Registration‘s “Gone”–and Consequence’s Kanye West-produced “On My Own” is no exception , though it doesn’t exactly mark as highly as the three songs mentioned.

Off his upcoming mixtape Movies on Demand 3, “On My Own” features the soul sample and string motif that was brought to apotheosis by Kanye’s classic Late Registration, as well as hook delivery service from a languid Kid Cudi.

Consequence has proven time and time again that he is more than just Q-Tip’s cousin, he’s also Kanye West’s friend, and on top of that, a more than proficient rapper. Hopefully the time will come where Consequence won’t have to hold onto the first two identifiers. But until then, we have “On My Own”:

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
