Daphni is what Caribou’s Dan Snaith does when he’s not doing Caribou, so if you’ve been waiting desperately for a follow-up to his day job’s 2010 record Swim, you might want to check out this new Daphni cut, “Pairs,” the first single from an upcoming record called JIAOLONG. It’s a little EDM-er than you’re probably used to from Snaith, but there’s familiar elements – pulsing synth layers, bass tones brewing like thunderclouds, an absolutely irresistible percussive backdrop with Afrobeat tinges. We’re digging the accompanying visuals by Jane Eastlight too. Check it out – the rest of JIAOLONG is expected in October.
