Philly’s finest purveyors of ramshackle pop-Americana Dr. Dog are back to their old ways with “Lonesome,” a brand new drunk-on-the-back-porch rollicking slow-burner that serves as the first single for their upcoming record Be the Void. We love that old-school found-sounding percussion, those echoey dueling guitars, those folk-traditional group vocals. The whole thing sounds like you could turn a corner into 1870 and come across all your ancestors jamming it out at the local saloon, by which we mean pretty damn good. Be the Void will drop February 7 on Anti-; we hope it boasts a whole host of songs as catchy as “Lonesome.”
