Christopher Owens left his own band Girls earlier this year to widespread chagrin, but those of you who have been missing his songwriting chops needn’t despair for long – here are two tracks from his upcoming solo debut Lysandre. According to a song-by-song explanation Owens posted on his website, the record tells the story of a real girl named Lysandre who Owens met and fell in love with while on Girls’ first large-scale tour, while he was struggling with the band’s sudden fame. You can check out both songs now, “Lysandre’s Theme” and “Here We Go.” We’re loving the diverse instrumentation at play (flutes!) and Owens‘ intimate, confessional lyrics. Check both out – the record drops January 15th.
