Yesterday the kind folks with Coachella announced Gorillaz as the big Sunday headliner, right above Pavement and Thom Yorke. Today, Gorillaz have us listening to “Stylo”, the first single off their forthcoming LP, Plastic Beach. We also got a peak at the artwork and tracklist.
Upon first listen, it’s evident that “Stylo” is no “Feel Good, Inc.” While the inclusion of the legendary Bobby Womack (The Valentinos, Sam Cooke, The Rolling Stones) and his glorious baritone wailing only enhances the track’s appeal, Mos Def’s contribution is ultimately uninteresting — a depressing notion, really, as last year’s The Ecstatic was my favorite rap record. But on a positive note, “Stylo”‘s slick and slippery production is instantly likable and has near-endless replay value.
Listen to Plastic Beach‘s first single, “Stylo” below, followed by the album’s tracklist:

New Gorillaz “Stylo” (feat. Mos Def & Bobby Womack) http://prettymuchamazing.com/uncategoriz... thoughts?
Holy crap, with this and the new Massive Attack album, i’m gonna be in heaven this year. Fantastic song
Weird, I wonder what happened to the third leaked track, I don’t see it listed (Electric Shock? Something like that).
Don’t worry, I’m sure Mos will kill it on the track with Hypnotic Brass Ensemble
Geoff Backstrom likes this.
still mumbling about it. But very curious about what will come next with the full album…
