I received this song with a caustic note attached, reading “kelis + tvotr dude = little dragon. ha.” Sarcastic as it may have been, the gchat equation has the ring of truth, and that’s not at all a bad thing as it regards the listening experience that is Kelis’ “Call On Me.” TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek does killer job with the production here, providing a consistent, highly danceable beat that changes enough as the song goes on to keep things interesting and emotive. Kelis’s voice fits in perfectly, and I’m happy to have the song already stuck in my head.

Hard to believe this is the same singer who did “Milkshake.” Kelis has two full-lengths coming out this year. Put away your calendars though, Federal Prism is playing coy with the details.

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
