“Motorway” was a wide open effort ready for a film soundtrack, but “Broken Record” is far more closed off and directive. Wound tight but filled to the brim with floor-filling bass and synth, “Broken Records” seems to ask the listener, “why aren’t you dancing?” and then repeats the question with each iteration of its huge chorus.
