You’ve probably heard Majical Cloudz’s name before – the Montreal musician, known to his family as Devon Welsh, contributed some instrumental work to Grimes‘ Visions highlight “Nightmusic” – but you might not have listened to his solo work yet. “What That Was” is an excellent track from his new EP Turns Turns Turns that’s pretty much about chilling and partying around town with a best friend named Neil, so if you have a friend named Neil get ready for a new friendship theme song – if you don’t, just mentally drop in your best friend’s name! Welsh’s voice is deep and beautiful and assured, his background instrumentals measured and ethereal, leaving enough space for his vocals to shine through. Check it out. Turns Turns Turns is out December 3.
