Major Lazer’s Free The Universe may have been pushed all the way the hell back to February 19th, but that doesn’t mean Diplo is going on vacation. Au contraire, he’s using the extra three months to keep a steady stream of singles and hype going for his project.

“Jah No Partial,” the latest single, was co-produced by English dubstep maestro Joshua Steele, who known by many as Flux Pavilion (who is known by many more for being sampled by Kanye West and JAY Z on “Who Gon Stop Me”). Flux’s influence over the song is obvious––just wait for those massive, granular synth planes!––but it’s all part of Major Lazer’s greater strategy to elucidate dubstep’s reggae roots and exploit them for their own twisted carnivalesque reasons.
