Portland indie rockers Menomena have a new album called Moms out soon, and if first single “Heavy Is As Heavy Does” is anything to go by, it’s going to be rather, uh, heavy. Not unlike The Walkmen’s latest album, Heaven, Menomena’s Moms is said to center around the theme of family, though it might be more accurate to say the album is about surviving ones family. The song’s exquisite buzz saw climax really drives home lyrics of fucked up family trees, distant fathers and not believing in second chances. Moms is out September 18th. Listen to the single below:
