After ’s premature passing in July, two collaborators the troubled soul songstress – Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi – wheedled through an extensive selection of her unreleased material to create a posthumous record, Lioness: Hidden Treasures.

“Halftime” is the latest piece of proof of Amy’s star-crossed genius, as she delivers another effortless, classically lovelorn siren song over a lounge-y R&B beat. We’re particularly struck by Amy’s lyrical attestations of consuming love for music: “The tune tears me apart / and it swallows me whole.” You’ll be agreeing with her before the end – “Halftime” has that amazing quality of Amy’s best material; her voice can wrap you up and swallow you whole. Check it out.
