Bradford Cox of Atlas Sound and Deerhunter just will not stop writing songs. Even after Deerhunter’s awesome fourth full-length Halcyon Digest in 2010 and the four LP-length collections of demos he posted on his blog not two months after, Cox had enough material in his mental databank for a third solo album, Parallax, out November 8.
“Amplifiers” is our fourth taste from the record, and it’s my favorite so far – like his best solo material (“Cold As Ice”, anyone?) it’s built up on a treated guitar loop, twangy and folksy here without losing any of Cox’s trademark ambient pseudo-psychedelia, and presided over by his confessional, sensual croon. Enjoy.
