In “not an OutKast cover” news of the day, DJ / producer / rapper Blaqstarr is finally teasing his long-awaited upcoming record Here We Are with a track called “Roses.” It’s a cool track, with a great beat, a catchy hook, and some awesome distorted vocal elements, but it sounds a little undecided, like Blaqstarr was torn between making the track into a rap banger or making it an Usher-style R&B slow-burner, so he decided to try both at once. We hope he can make up his mind on the rest of Here We Are, which M.I.A’s label N.E.E.T. will drop with Interscope this summer – there are lots of promising elements here.
