God bless whoever got Danny Brown on this beat from The Purist. The sinister, spacey beat (which reminds us a bit of the excellent “Terrorist Threats”) and the “Ten Crack Commandments” vocal sample (“The cheddar breed jealousy / especially if that man / fucked up”) leave enough space for his unmistakably unhinged flow to occupy the spotlight. “Jealousy” has the “laugh throughout it” feel of XXX, and not so much the more mature feel that he has said his next LP, Old, will have. The track is off the British beatmaker’s forthcoming Tr-ill EP, but it makes us pretty desperate to hear some more new material from Brown. Check it out at Pitchfork.
New: Danny Brown on The Purist “Jealousy”
Two more offerings from Johnny Jewel’s SoundCloud.
From his upcoming mixtape Ferg Forever.
Each wrote a two-minute soundtrack for the film.
A 54-minute DJ mix called you and i are the same.
Hopefully it’ll include those new songs, “6 God,” “Heat of the Moment,” and “How Bout Now.”
It’s going to be A Very Very Decent Christmas
