We love Feist’s latest Metals, so it’s no surprise we also love its bonus track “Pine Moon.” It’s a haunting, chilling ballad that gathers power as it grows from a guitar-driven lullaby into a powerful fairy tale of a song with a heartbeat handclap pulse. When a choir emerges from hazy piano chords to back Feist up with a chorus of oooohs, you can almost see them emerging from the fog.
What makes the song so profoundly striking is how visual it is – give it a listen with closed eyes and you can almost see and feel through the involved orchestration and Leslie Feist’s own sweet yowl exactly what that “Pine Moon” looks like.
