“Dull Tool,” which sounds like a needless victim of from The Idler Wheel… cutting room, is Fiona Apple’s contribution to the soundtrack of Judd Apatow’s “sort-of sequel” to Knocked Up, This Is 40, and it’s also the first music she’s ever written for a film –– so it’s pretty special.

If you were digging the intricate sounds and wordy, provocative lyrics of Apple’s excellent 2011 record, you’ll definitely dig “Dull Tool.” Pounding drums, Mariachi guitar, and wailing violins waltz around Apple’s singular voice and lyrics about apathy (our favorite: “you don’t kiss when you kiss, you don’t fuck when you fuck”). The soundtrack hits a Starbucks near you December 11 and also includes contributions from everyone from Paul McCartney to Paul Simon.

This is 40 Soundtrack Tracklist:
01. I’m Your Angel – Yoko Ono
02. Always Judging – Norah Jones
03. What Do You Like? – Graham Parker with Punch Brothers
04. Sick Of You – Lindsey Buckingham
05. Rewrite – Paul Simon
06. Shining Through The Dark (Live) – Ryan Adams
07. Lunch Box Odd Sox – Paul McCartney
