Producer and all around musical visionary Steven Ellison, who merges genres like hip hop, jazz, electronica, dubstep and world music all into one dance friendly package under the moniker Flying Lotus, has been keeping busy, whether it be dissing Big Sean’s Finally Famous on Twitter (it’s really not that great an album and we’re still salty about his weighing down Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Friday tracks) or releasing new music via his Soundcloud.
The artist has just dropped two new jams, “Lullaby” and “Heave (n),” both of which explore the foundations of untraditional musical fusion, this is what FlyLo does best. “Heave” has a lot of those off beat postdub elements to it, but “Lullaby” is some straight up club, with a menacing synthesized backdrop and a bad ass bass line to boot.
