New: Jack White – “Sixteen Saltines”

If Jack White’s first teaser track from his upcoming solo record Blunderbuss, “Love Interruption,” was a slice out of the radio-ready pop-soul he was doing with the Raconteurs, his second single “Sixteen Saltines” would likely fit in neatly among the White Stripes’ canon.

Pounding drums, brain-melting distorted riffs, smart, snappy lyrics and an endlessly sing-along-able chorus – this is the kind of accessible, but still thrillingly edgy hard rock we’ve loved Jack for churning out since De Stijl. The rest of Blunderbuss drops on Jack’s own label Third Man on April 24; we can’t wait to see what else he has up his sleeve.

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
