Here’s another new one from Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming good kid, m.A.A.d. city – “Compton” is an ode to his hometown that features the legendary Dr. Dre. Just Blaze manned the tables here – we’re loving the track’s old-school, classic vibe, and how it breaks at the end into futuristic autotune – and Dre’s verse is great, but the real hero here could be no one but King Kendrick: his lyrics are snappy, whip-smart, hypnotically rhythmic, and utterly relentless. It’s another reason why good kid is without a doubt our most anticipated rap album of the year – it drops October 22.
