The artist formerly known as Kitty Pryde (now just Kitty) knows what she’s doing. She’s self-aware and self-deprecating, but not in a cloying way. Instead it comes off sincerely, brilliantly giving voice to the precarious, anxious mindset of someone who “grew up on the shy side/ on the free wifi side/ on the OCD side.” I wonder if we’ll see more teenage artists, most of whom probably grew up on social media, expressing this sort of “I want attention but don’t know how to handle it” social anxiety. IDK, but Kitty is making it work over this white noise synth beat from producer Grant. “R.R.E.A.M.” is off her D.A.I.S.E.Y. Rage EP, which drops January 31.

Check out two other songs from the release – “Dead Island” and “Ay Shawty.”

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
