Ra Ra Riot have always made masterful indie pop that knows exactly how to find a middle ground, and the first single and title track from their upcoming third record Beta Love is no exception. It’s a fun, bubblegummy synth-pop track that puts the band’s strongest points – catchy riffs, bubbly basslines, big drums, Wes Miles’ sweet falsetto – on display in spades. Since Discovery’s LP, the record Miles released with Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij in 2009, we’ve waited for more chances to hear him exercise his R&B ready vocal gymnastics, and “Beta Love” is a perfect vehicle. Check it out – the record is out January 22.
