Rougue Wave have a new album coming out, and it comes from a place of grief, though you wouldn’t be able to tell that from the album’s upbeat single, “College.” Frontman Zach Rogue’s father died as they were making the last album, but instead of wallowing in grief, they’re celebrating life, as they told CoS. John Congleton (Modest Mouse, The Walkmen, David Byrne & St. Vincent) produced, and that’s evident from the track’s polished feel of the track that’s decidedly reminiscent of the parenthetically mentioned acts.

Nightingale Floors is due out June 4 on Vagrant Records.

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
