New: Skream – “Anticipate”

You can anticipate UK quasi-dubstepper Skream physically releasing his next single on November 14, but if the anticipation is killing you, you can stream it now. Fittingly, it’s called “Anticipate,” and it sounds like psych-up music of the highest caliber.

Skream’s work may be dubstep-inspired, but he doesn’t resort to that getting-old oomsk-oomsk bass beat of lesser dub DJs, instead crafting a complex, electropoppy beat – more in the vein of Hot Chip than you might expect – of crashing percussion and catchy synths for frequent collaborator Sam Frank to deliver sensual, heavily-processed vocals over.

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
