If you recall, we blogged about Swedish synth pop group Niki & The Dove in April when they released the title track from their debut EP, “The Fox”, one of the better songs we’ve heard all year. Since then the group have collected quite the audience, and are said to be working on their full length debut, though there’s no confirmation yet. They’ve just put out a new song, “Last Night,” which seems most likely to appear on said debut.
The song’s slightly ominous electro synth backdrop and polished pop production sounds like Bat For Lashes meets Lykke Li; strengthened by lead singer Malin Dahlstrom’s powerful vocals, and a seriously catchy chorus to boot – “last night we got married in a backseat” – “Last Night” is an instant hit.
