In the interim between Passion Pit’s 2009 record Manners and its just-announced upcoming follow-up Gossamer, the band’s members have been keeping pretty busy, what with remixes, side projects, their own independent record labels, and incessant touring. Synth dude Ayad Al Adhamy is the next to add his name to the roster of killer Passion Pit side projects with TEAM SPIRIT, his band of crunchy power-pop garage rock. It’s a pretty far cry from his day job’s sexy synth grooves, but his ear for smart pop songwriting is still on display. We’re loving tracks like “Fuck the Beach,” with its sixties-style wordless sing-alongs, wandering bassline, and infinitely catchy guitar riffs. Check it out.
