The Brooklyn duo The Zolas have been releasing music since 2009′s “Tic Toc Tic,” and now they’re gearing up for their second album Ancient Mars by dropping a slew of fantastic singles. We’re psyched to premiere another one of those, “Observatory,” a deceptively bubblegummy slice of minimalistic, jangly pop. It’s sewn together Frankenstein-style from disparate, staggering parts – a sexy bassline here and a wheedling guitar part there give way to seething, dark piano chords that lead into a perfect sing-along chorus marked by acoustic guitar and touchingly disturbing lyrics. We can’t wait for the rest of the record. Check it out.
