R.E.M. – “It Happened Today” & “Oh My Heart”

Last month, we received word that rock giants R.E.M. would be releasing their fifteenth studio album this year, entitled Collapse Into Now. The band has all ready debuted the opening track, “Discover,” and have just provided two more previews for our listening pleasure. “It Happened Today,” featuring Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, sounds like classic R.E.M., an inspirational rock ditty where frontman Michael Stipe croons and moans like he did on 1991’s classic Out Of Time. “Oh My Heart” is a quiet, impassioned ballad, a tribute to the brass and folklore of New Orleans, with production from longtime associate, Jacknife Lee. Collapse Into Now comes out March 8 in North America via Warner, and features cameos from Peaches and Patti Smith. Listen to the two new songs below:
