New Albany, Indiana might not be a musical mecca, and its latest prodigal sons (and daughter) Houndmouth might not have the greatest band name of all time, but press play on their debut single “Penitentiary,” shut your eyes, and don’t think about anything except how good this song is, and we guarantee all your worries will be erased.

Houndmouth’s fantastic boy/girl harmonies, classic but pop-updated folk-Americana songwriting that reminds us of The Band, and that jammy, echoey middle section we’d like to loop on repeat for twenty minutes did the job for us. Keep an eye on this band, we will too.
