Honestly, each time I hear another track from Tune-Yards, it’s just a blatant reminder of how hauntingly unique Merril Garbus’ voice is. It’s been a busy week for the Californian singer/songwriter, having just released a wonderfully dazzling, paint ridden video for lead single “Bizness” from her forthcoming w h o k i l l. We’ve now received a glimpse of a new track from the LP, another powerful, raw gem called “Powa,” which starts off fairly chilled out and bluesy, and continues to grows louder and more enticing as it progresses.

The riffs are epic and the melodies are weird and afrocentric, but as always its Garbus’ dazzling vocals that make it such a pleasure to listen to. w h o k i l l comes out April 18th via 4AD. I’m counting the days…
