Regina Spektor – “Don’t Leave Me”

Regina Spektor must have felt she didn’t get the cover of Jacques Brel’s classic “Ne Me Quitte Pas” (it translates to “Don’t Leave Me,” which is what Regina’s version is titled) she included on her 2002 record Songs right, because she’s covering it again on her new record What We Saw From the Cheap Seats. Spektor translates it excellently into the bouncy twee pop she does best, what with a music box full of instruments (horns, strings, and of course that piano), and into English, at least during those lilting verses. Check it out while you wait for the singer’s sixth LP, which drops May 29th.
