Santigold covers Creedence Clearwater Revival “Proud Mary”

If you thought Lana Del Rey took a weird cover choice to her BBC performance recently (Kasabian’s “Goodbye Kiss”), you’ll be really wowed by Santigold’s choice to cover Creedence Clearwater Revival’s classic to end all classics “Proud Mary” during her session at London’s Maida Vale studios.

You’ll also be wowed by how natural it sounds – who knew CCR could translate so easily into sexy, fun pop reggaeton? Swarming bass drones, clattering drums, fun group vocals (we’re especially impressed by how Creedence’s lyrics get an effortless hip-hop makeover) – this is maybe the strangest but also one of the best covers we’ve heard in a while. Check it out.
