Portland R&B maestros Shy Girls aren’t girls, but based on new single “Under Attack” they sound pretty shy – singer Dan Vidmar sounds intimate, confessional, and deeply personal, a graduate of the Weeknd’s and How to Dress Well’s school of quiet sensuality, over a minimalist, slow-burning beat; only at the chorus does he unabashedly lay it down (that might just be the doubled vocal track, though). We feel inclined to also mention the sax solos, synth drones, and ’80s-y guitar line, all effortlessly integrated and scientifically proven to tug at your heartstrings. Check it out.
